Why Coaching?
There's a reason why even elite athletes have coaches - a skilled guide to help you fully utilize your gifts, move the needle on your growth points, and align your actions with long term goals.
Most of us, if we're lucky, have enough support when life is going ok, whether from friends, family, or providers. Then we hit a bump, or a wall, or the ground is simply ripped from under us. We lose a job or end a relationship. We realize we're stuck, complacent, and unfulfilled. We’re faced with a seemingly impossible choice. Or something bigger happens - a diagnosis, loss of independence, even death.
A coach can walk with you during these times, helping you harness your own values to chart your way, change patterns, and reconcile competing emotions. A coach can help you feel back in the driver's seat, even if the road remains bumpy.
Why Harrison?
My coaching draws from nearly three decades of meditation practice and over 15 years of teaching secular meditation and Buddhist practice. I ground in an embodied, mindfulness-based understanding that 1) we are more than our thoughts and emotions, and 2) much of our happiness is based not on what’s happening but on how we’re relating to whatever is happening. Within that framework I help my clients to live on purpose, connect actions to values, and manifest desired changes. I bring a suite of mental, emotional, and spiritual inquiry tools to help you know and be your best self - in action - one day at a time.
I'm a certified life coach and a hospice chaplain, with professional chaplaincy experience in medical, psychiatric, and higher education settings. From navigating the political landscape with college presidents to guiding meditations on acute psychiatric units, I bring a calm mind and an open heart to difficult situations. Simply put, I'm the guy you want in your corner when the going gets rough and you can’t find a way through.

What People Are Saying
"In short, it was transcendent. A chance to integrate disparate and complicated parts of myself through a somatic lens. Unexpected and alive."
- Breathwork participant, Annual Conference of the Association for Chaplaincy and Spiritual Life in Higher Education
"Harrison is an extremely gifted listener, which made our sessions together quite rich. His ability to follow the various threads of my musings and to use what he heard to ask questions and/or propose exercises that invited more depth to the exploration of my spiritual life was such a gift. He communicated so well his real interest in and curiosity about my process in a way that felt beautifully supportive and I would recommend working with him for coaching or spiritual counseling without reservation."
- Penny Field, psychotherapist
"This series was incredibly helpful in all aspects. I truly impacted my daily life by using mindfulness as a tool to remain in the moment."
- Psychiatric unit staff participant of 4-week mindfulness training
"My students loved Harrison's mindfulness and meditation training, and I was impressed by his generous and professional presentation. In my course evaluations, many students shared they were still using the techniques he taught them at the end of the semester."
- Dr. Stacy Giufre, Director of the Graduate Program in Italian,
UMass Amherst
"With a skilled attunement to others, no matter their age, gender, or physical ability, Harrison created a safe environment, allowing the body the freedom to experience its own creative, unencumbered expression of being alive."
- Jean Esther, Psychotherapist and Teacher at Insight Meditation Community of Western Mass
"For me this is the first step to beginning to love myself, something I have been trying to do for over 50 years."
- Participant of low-income mindfulness series
